The Australian Speleological Federation is very pleased to announce that it will host the 17th International Congress of Speleology from July 16th to 23rd in 2017 in Sydney, Australia.
We welcome you the modern explorers and wanderers to participate in this Congress and experience many of the mysterious and unique features of Terra australis.
This congress is only the second to be held in the Southern Hemisphere. With a strong reputation of providing specialty conferences, symposia, seminars and workshops we can promise that this Congress will be world class event and yet be different with a distinctive Australian flavour.
The venue will be at the Panthers Event Centre chosen because of its leading edge technology, excellent management standards and efficient food and beverage services. This large and modern conference centre is located in Penrith on the outskirts of Greater Sydney the capital of the state of New South Wales. It is well serviced by transport to the City centre and to the International Airport.
The 17th Congress will largely follow the UIS tradition to be the forum for the exchange of information across the spectrum of disciplines that make up Speleology. There will be oral presentations, poster presentations displays and workshops and these will be state of the art technology. During Congress week there will be excursions to nearby Karst regions including the World Heritage Jenolan Caves. There will be particular consideration given to all age groups and levels of accessibility. Along with the usual activities with which you are accustomed however, there will be pre and post congress caving trips and other highlights that will astound you.
We will be providing a website with information specific to the congress as it becomes available.
In the meantime, mark your calendars for 2017 and find a big empty jar. It just takes a Euro at regular intervals to fill the jar and ensure an adventure of a Lifetime in the Great Southern.
